Despite its dedication to education, with over 80% primary school enrollment, the harsh realities of poverty and soaring unemployment persist. For many children, dreams are extinguished as they’re forced to abandon their education due to financial constraints, lack of basic necessities like clothing and nutrition, and the daunting task of having to fend for themselves at a tender age.

Amid these challenges, there is a beacon of hope embodied in Queen’s remarkable journey of resilience. Her story echoes the mission of Orphan’s Promise, which is deeply committed to rescuing children from difficult circumstances and nurturing them towards a future filled with promise and potential, as envisioned by God.

Meet Queen, a resilient young lady, who currently finds refuge in a palace camp in Kitwe. Queen’s tumultuous journey began with the heartbreak of her parents’ divorce, leading to her relocation to a family member’s home where financial constraints abruptly halted her education and common goals. Left with no choice but to fend for herself, Queen found safety and compassionate care from church members within the palace camp.

In the year 2018, a pivotal moment marked the beginning of Queen’s journey toward a brighter future. Queen found the courage to confide in Mr. Mathias, the headmaster at Chilengi School, sharing her story and her aspirations for advancing her education. Mr. Mathias encouraged Queen to re-enroll in seventh grade at Chilengi School, pledged his support and guidance throughout the process. Upon receiving her exam results, Queen joyously advanced to the eighth grade, a testament to her resilience and determination. Guided by Mr. Mathias’s compassion and with the assistance of Orphan’s Promise, Queen’s dreams of furthering her education were realized.

Through the support of Orphan’s Promise, Queen not only received educational assistance but was also encouraged during regular home visits and the delivery of essential food items for her family.

Today, Queen is a testament to the transformative power of others’ compassion and her resilience. With two years of support from Orphan’s Promise, she has not only reclaimed her place in school but has also advanced to grade ten, paving the way for a brighter future filled with increased possibilities.
